Atlantic Row - Liveryman Elliot Awin Completes the World’s Toughest Row

Many congratulations to Liveryman Elliot Awin who completed the World’s Toughest Row across in the Atlantic arriving in Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua today, coming in second in the solo class after 44 days and 1 hour at sea.

Elliot was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in 2015 and had a pacemaker fitted in 2020.

He is the first person with a pacemaker to attempt the challenge.

The former rugby player was forced to quit playing after his diagnosis, and despite years in and out of hospital, he later took up CrossFit and rowing.

Elliot has raised more than £150,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), which will go towards supplying defibrillators to underfunded sports communities.

As well as several other sponsors, the Vintners’ Company was pleased to be able to support Elliot in his endeavour and congratulate him on this tremendous achievement.
